Delivery: Full-time Length: 5 days Class Size: Minimum: 6 Maximum: 12 Description: Technical Rope Rescue - High Angle - Operations Level is a specialist course designed by ESA for Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Services personnel. It covers the rope rescue skills required to access and evacuate casualties from most high angle locations. Technical Rope Rescue - High Angle - Operations Level is a 5 day course including classroom and practical field exercises. Students will advance from over the bank rescues to progressively more difficult vertical scenarios. Students are trained in pre-planning and size up of rope rescue operations; knots, hitches and anchor systems; belay operations; ascending and descending; raising and lowering systems; and patient packaging and litter tending. Special emphasis is placed on safety considerations for rescuers, victims, and bystanders. Topics covered in the ESA Rope Rescue course include: • Pre-planning and Size Up • Equipment Selection, Use and Care • Knots and Anchor Point Selection and Application • Rope Rigging and Belay Techniques • Rope Descending • Changeovers (descending to ascending) • Passing Knots • Self Rescue Techniques • Mechanical Advantage Lifting Techniques • Stretcher Lifting and Lowering Techniques This course is a great resume builder! Accreditation: Technical Rope Rescue - High Angle - Operations Level presented by ESA meets the requirements for the Operations Level of NFPA 1670 for Technical Rope Incidents. Prerequisites: An application for a Rope Rescue - High Angle - Operations Course at ESA must include the following: • Completed ESA Application Form including an Email address. Free email is available on Google (gmail) and Hotmail. Correspondence between ESA and students will be sent by email. • Proof of age (minimum 18 years). A driver's license is acceptable. • Full payment of course fees. Physical Requirements: Students must be at least 18 years of age and in good physical condition. Credentials: Successful students will receive an ESA certificate. They must attend the full five days of classes. Application: It is the responsibility of an applicant to ensure an application submitted to ESA is complete and meets all prerequisites. Acceptance will be confirmed upon receipt of a complete application and full payment of fees. If an applicant withdraws from a Rope Rescue - High Angle Course before the first day of classes, the Application Fee is non-refundable. There is no refund available for the Rope Rescue - High Angle Course at ESA after the course has commenced. |
 Dates: 2012 Rope Rescue - High Angle - Operations Dates Rope 1206 High Angle - Monday to Friday, June 4 to 8, 2012 Rope 1210 High Angle - Monday to Friday, October 1 to 5, 2012 ESA Fees: Fees for the Technical Rope Rescue - High Angle - Operations Course are $1,195.00. Fees include a non-refundable application fee of $100.00, course materials, tuition fees, student fees and applicable GST. Total fees must accompany an application. Class size is limited to 12 students. The first 12 applicants with complete applications and paid fees will be accepted. Payment may be made by cheque (payable to Emergency Services Academy Ltd.), cash, debit card, Visa, MasterCard or American Express. Fees listed above apply to Canadian residents (Canadian Citizen, Landed Immigrant or Permanent Resident). International students will pay a 120% surcharge on tuition and comprehensive fees. |
